AN IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE PRESENTed BY

Women of color physicians face a unique set of challenges in creating successful careers in medicine. The Thriving in the Last Mile (TILM) workshop series addresses these challenges by providing tools, resources and a network to help women of color, and Black women physicians in particular, navigate toxic or discriminatory work environments.

What People Say About Us

“TILM was a phenomenal experience. It was amazing to share space with women in healthcare. It was great to have concrete tools to navigate particulate systems while listening to unique experiences. I highly recommend this to anyone in the medical field.”

–A.L., Medical Student, TILM Participant

“The Thriving in the Last Mile Workshop should be a prerequisite for anyone seeking to enhance their professional life with tools and strategies to navigate the challenges and complexities of working in an environment not built for underrepresented minorities. Dr. Safo shares with us her personal experiences and there are many lessons that can be taken away. I have already recommended it to my trainees as a way to gain support and network in a space that is very much needed!”

–S.I., Program Director, TILM Participant

“I continue to be amazed at how prevalent these stories of maltreatment and discrimination exist at ALL levels of medicine – from training into practice. Dr. Safo has created a space and curriculum of preparing trainees for this. The sessions are filled with specific methods of approach and tips of engagement with a toxic system. I highly recommend.”

–K.O., Attending, TILM Participant

“I wish I had been part of a network like this as a resident! I especially love the discussion of how to use media, political strategy and legal avenues.”

–I.H., Resident, TILM Participant
